![]() This weekend Mark Vigneaux brewed his new 90 Minute Northern Brown. His overnight mash went extremely well, which cut down his brewing time. This is Matt Steinburg's brown recipe and it was hopped with Mark's Dogfish Head 90 clone hop schedule. This should be an extremely interesting beer, as Mark used 13 1/3 oz additions. ![]() Have you recently reviewed Beer Advocate's list of the Top 250 Beers in the U.S.? Surprisingly, Heady Topper has dropped to the fifth spot, while Tree House Brewing Company's Good Morning has taken first place. Beer Advocate also listed its picks for the best beers by state. The best beers in New England are (mental drum roll, followed by a long pause): These ratings were issued at the perfect time for F.O.A.M. to start planning its annual pub crawl. Coincidence? Hmm. . .
The 13th annual invitational Extreme Beer Fest will be held on Friday, February 5 & Saturday, February 6, 2016 at the Seaport World Trade Center in Boston, Massachusetts. Tickets are $57.50 per ticket and went on sale on Saturday, August 1, 2015. Click here for more information.
Cold Harbor Brewing is the latest brewery to open in Central, Mass. F.O.A.M. member, Mark Vigneaux attended their grand opening on September 12th. Cold Harbor currently has five beers on tap and offers tastings only at this time (they have not yet obtained all of the appropriate licenses and permits to sell). Mark sampled a variety of the beers on tap and thought they they were all very good. He and his wife, Jess, both chose the Maris American Pale Ale as their favorite. For more information about Cold Harbor Brewing, click here. Several of F.O.A.M.'s members recently attended the 19th Annual New England Homebrewers' Jamboree in Tamworth, New Hampshire. Each and every fall, Homebrewers from throughout New England converge upon the doorstep of New Hampshire’s White Mountains for a weekend filled with food, friends, fun, music and of course . . . great homebrewed beverages. This event, always held the weekend after Labor Day, features some of New England's finest homebrew clubs, great local music, an onsite homebrew competition, brewing demon-stations, kids activities and plenty of great food.
