About Us:
F.O.A.M.’s members range from first-time home brewers that are just learning the craft, to extremely knowledgeable, well-seasoned home brewers. Regardless of skill level, all home brewers as well as beer enthusiasts are welcome to participate in F.O.A.M. In fact, F.O.A.M.’s primary goal (aside from having fun and tasting rare and unique beers) is to have its members become more knowledgeable and skilled.
While everyone occasionally brews a bad beer or two (or three . . .), the benefit of being a member of F.O.A.M. is that you can ask seasoned brewers (some who are BJCP certified competition judges) what may have gone wrong in your process. Conversely, seasoned brewers may, at some point, ask you the same question with respect to their own home brews.
F.O.A.M. conducts a barrel aging program, the F.O.A.M. Aged Bourbon Barrel (F.A.B.B.) in which members vote on what to collectively brew and put into that barrel. Over the years, our members have brewed Scotch ale, Baltic porter, mead, and barley wine for barrel aging. As a result, F.O.A.M. participating members have enjoyed killer barrel-aged beers/meads to enjoy and age.
The best part of being affiliated with F.O.A.M. are the friendships that form among our members. F.O.A.M. has become a second family to many of our members, as we spend holidays, vacation and weekends together with our spouses, children and pets. One could not ask for a better group of individuals to be associated with. We learn a lot together, drink a lot together, and most of importantly, have a lot of fun together.
